East West Kendo Tournament 2008

My last tournament, or possibly my last kendo event, before entering NS. I wasn’t too sure at first if I should join it in the first place due to the fact that I wasn’t training regularly because of work and my sudden start for napfa training. There was also the factor that I did damn badly on the last East West tournament. However, I just joined it since everyone told me it was a fun tournament and we go there to have fun and stuff.

Basically, for those of you who don’t know, here’s how the tournament runs. All the participants are first separated between the East and West and from there, they are divided into teams. For those living in the South or North, they will be divided equally into the East and West sides. Last year I was in West I think. This year, I was in the East and my team was E2.

You never really know who is in your team until the day of the tournament itself. If you get strong players, good for you. If not, you have to find a way to work around it. That’s what makes it so exciting. My team consists of a not-so-mini curly fries, a roasted duck, an eggplant, a glass of green tea and the special-for-the day!

It is a weird combination and I was the chuken for my team yet again. Skeptical at first but I thought this time around, we can really make it to the top. Lol, and we did. Thanks team for the wonderful experience. Finally felt what it’s like to be standing in the center stage at the finals, together with all the teammates you fought hard alongside with. We are the win! Congrats to those who won as well~
