Back!
I am finally back in Singapore! Everything feels so different. Even using the computer now feels weird. I’ll post more when I’m not feeling lazy. Been awhile since I had so much free time. Ciaosu
Enlistment
I shall now recruit into army to embark on a ‘Save Yuji’ mission as stated above. It’ll be a dangerous one, venturing into an island known as Tekong, filled with beasts such as the feared WildBOARS with a penknife as my only weapon (Shana took the rest of them…)
Lol, fantasy aside, it is official that i’ll be entering tomorrow. No more deferment and the likes. Bags not packed and I have about 12 hours left to enlistment. I am currently having mixed feelings about this. I am worried as I just recovered today (Oh please, the fever, flu and cough combo really came at a convenient time) Furthermore, for some reason, I am feeling rather excited instead of nervous. Reason might be that I have a longer time to prepare myself or the fact that everyone else has experienced it but I have not. Whatever it is, it will take up two years of my life so might as well make the most out of it.
I forgot to mention! I have found myself a neat phone. (Wai Kay, no more complaining hor!) It is the Nokia e51 mobile phone. What compelled me to buy it? First and foremost, it has a non-camera counterpart so it is perfect for NS. Second, if you apply for a new line (student), you can get it for S$38. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me. It also has a microSD card slot supporting up to 4GB worth. Basically, it has a lot more funtions and stuff than my older one. I can finally put songs into it. One thing I did not realise at first is that it was a business phone. No harm done though. Alright, I’ll end here for now. See you guys in two weeks!
A dream
Just a random post. I have noticed that I have visited this particular shopping mall in my dreams a few times. It is a fairly large mall, probably 3-4 times larger than Plaza Singapura (when viewed ffrom the inside). One thing that I will always see when I’m there is these two bubble lifts in the middle. The lifts are bigger than usual of course, to ferry more people in it. They are emerald in colour, with golden linings/designs. From afar, it already gives of this grand feeling, not to mention when you are close to it. What are buble lifts you ask?
They are basically lifts fitted with glass walls. I was really fascinated with them when I was a kid and it was a joy just taking the lift up/down while looking at the surroundings outside. It is more of a bonus when the lifts are outside of the building and you can sometimes see a view of the town.
Back to the shopping mall, one of the stores I ‘frequent’ was this huge store that took like half of a floor. The store is somewhat like a mixture of Kinokuniya and Toy’s R Us. Therefore, I am always elatedwhen I’m there as there were many stuff to see ranging from various books to toys to even dvds and cds.
The food court there is also great, with a lot of the stalls having the halal certificate (lol). Also, there was this game shop I visited once where they have a lot of games for sale, even those that are hard to find in Singapore. Another one I visited was a computer shop (this computer shop was yesterday’s dream). I was looking for a dvd writer (in real life) so I just asked the lady at the counter if they have any as i cannot locate any of them. They only have one left, an LG dvd writer and sold it to me for 20-something dollars, which was a steal.
The last store that I can remember was this huge megastore in the mall. The people there were wearing uniform similar to Harvey Norman and I can remember clearly a promoter trying to psycho me to buy his product (cannot remember what it is though) but being a promoter myself, well, he failed. Well, that is basically some of the places I have visited. Well, I was not walking aorund alone in the dream. There was my family at one time, my classmates from polytechnic, fellow kendokas and random people who I have never met before (more than half are girls) What can I say, boys are boys afterall *laughs*
I realized after some time that the places I visited were places where they have items that I wanted to buy. The game shop was there because i wanted to buy a PS3 and the new Soulcalibur game. Furthermore, my siblings are there because we really wanted it. The megastore was well, because I was working at Harvey Norman and I wanted to buy a hd-ready lcd tv for the PS3 so I was scouting the shop for good offers. Food? Well, it was the fasting month so..*laughs* The computer shop was because I wanted a dvd writer. All in all, it’s a pretty amazing place to go to, plus it gives me the calm and relax atmosphere instead of the usual rush and chaotic one we experienced in real life. I’ll stop here then as guests are arriving soon. Till then.
Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri
It is finally here! That means
1) Fasting month is over!
2) kuih, Kuih, KUIH!
3) Green Packets
4) Tekong resort is right around the corner….
Right, here is a quick summary of the celebration, courtesy of wikipedia.
Hari Raya Aidilfitri (also Hari Raya Puasa, literally “Celebration Day of Fasting”) is the Malay term for the Muslim festival of Eid ul-Fitr. Hari Raya is also known as Lebaran. Muslims in Brunei, Malaysia and Singapore celebrate Eid like other Muslims throughout the world. The term “Hari Raya” literally means “Day of Celebration” — it is also occasionally used to refer to Eid ul-Adha in the form of “Hari Raya Aidiladha“. The main greeting used by Muslims in Malaysia and Singapore is “Selamat Hari Raya” which means “Happy Eid” in Malay.
Another greeting is “maaf zahir dan batin” which translates loosely to “I seek forgiveness (from you) physically and spiritually”, for Hari Raya is a time to reconcile and renew relationships with others.
So there you have it. Now to my friends out there, here is something (above). It is in Malay so get someone to translate it if you are interested (Note: If you people spam me asking for a translation I’m gonna smack you! Unless it comes in the form of cash, game consoles, laptops and the like)
Oh well, I’ll probably spam myself with food for the next couple of days (which might be impossible as I have forgotten how to eat during the day) Sometimes, the fasting period does not really feel like one since most of us have gotten used to it by now. Plus, do listen to Zero above! Surrender them or the Black Knights will come knocking on your door. Your call. For now, I have about a week left till bmt so I guess I will enjoy myself.
